A new term has started for schools and a new term has started for the youth work of the church. We had a fabulous time in the park near the church for our first outing of the new term. We leaders tried to encourage the children to play rounders, but they were having none of it! They preferred to climb all over the climbing frames in the playground area. It was a lovely sunny day and the leaders and children all enjoyed themselves.
Of course, God knows us better than we know ourselves and therefore knows who we are in relation to Him. More importantly, he accepts us as who we are and what we are when we give our lives to Him initially but He does not expect us to stay as we were. We need to change our mindset, thoughts and actions once we become a child of His. Thus spiritually we become a new person - "behold old things are passed away; I make all things new". We no longer think along the same lines as before. I have come to realise over the years that this is a gradual process - it is in progress, not complete. I used to think that, as soon as I was converted, I would somehow become perfect and was very surprised that it was not so! I realized over time that I have to read and study God's word and, equally importantly, listen to His voice and be guided by Him in order to bring about the change in character, thought and deed that is required of every believer - in other words to become a new creation.
